Disk Wiping

Atola Disk Recycler is capable of erasing hard drives at 18 GB/min (300 MB/s) and provides the following wiping options:

DoD 5220.22-M method

Sample script for DoD wiping

This is one of the most widely recognized standards. Data wiping is performed in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual. 3-pass and 7-pass algorithms are available.

NIST 800-88 method

This is another algorithm designed for secure data destruction. Data wiping is performed in accordance with NIST Media Sanitization Procedures.

Security Erase

Security Erase command is defined in the ATA/ATAPI standard and utilizes hard drive's internal security subsystem to perform the erasing.

Fill with pattern

It is possible to fill the entire media with a pattern. It could be either a simple zero-fill, or a custom pattern of any length. It is also possible to fill each sector with the drive with its LBA number (this is usually needed for research purposes).
